Days 19 and 20

Day 19

THE CHURCH - FAMILY MEANS REUNION

Readings: John 14 v 2 - 3, Isaiah 6 v 8, Jeremiah 1 v 9

In the gospel according to John 14 v 2, Jesus says that, "In my father's house are many mansions... I go to prepare a place for you." This is a question of reunion, because Christians never say good-bye for the last time. This shows us that we are moving toward a great, final, family, get together where ultimately all God's children will dwell in the house of the Lord forever - (John 14 v 2 - 3).

In the light of all these wonderful truths, let me challenge you to make a new commitment to your forever family, a commitment to build strong relationships with your brothers and sisters in Christ so that you may serve them more effectively. What means most to you about being included in God's family?

In all this is a call to commitment. The call to commitment shall come as the ultimate question. How have you and I responded to each of these calls? Are we mere spectator Christians of truth or are we willing to become doers of truth? The prophet Isaiah in the Old Testament recorded the details of an unusual worship experience during which he heard the Lord saying, "Who shall I send? And "Who will go for us?" Isaiah responded, "Here I am send me." - (Is. 6 v 8) How will we respond my dear brothers and sisters to these calls?

Prayerful Thought: Lord God I pray for my church to become as close as a family. AMEN

Day20

THE CHURCH - YOU HAVE A MISSION IN LIFE

Reading: John 3 v 34

A life without a purpose accomplishes very little. To work constructively towards a positive goal is the secret of successful living - but only if the goal is worthy of your highest ideals. Too many people have a vision of what their life should be and know that only in realizing the vision will they experience true joy and fulfilment, yet because this demands hard work, discipline and perhaps sacrifice, they become satisfied with the second best in their lives.

They "make do" not because they are incompetent but because they are too lazy to fulfil their destiny. Many people are educated outside their passion and purpose. Passion is the fuel for me to reach my destiny and accomplish my mission. At times we have to realize that, it is not by election that gives us the right perception to seeing our destiny in order to accomplish our Mission, but our Passion in whatever we are doing.

In whatever strata of society you move you have a duty to God and to yourself to be your very best at all times. Do not be content to lead a second-rate life but be determined to live to the maximum of your ability. This entails having a goal that is great enough to lift you with inspiration and motivation. Your duty to God is not an abstract belief divorced from, but a way to life that incorporated God in every Divine inspirer and, as His Will becomes your mission in life, you experience a deep sense of satisfaction and fulfilment.

Prayerful thought: Lord, doing your will gives me a positive mission in life and I am saved from useless dilly-dallying.
